Canvas: My Mediasite og Mediasite Catalog

All films and audio files shared in Canvas should be uploaded via Mediasite.

Where do I find Mediasite?

Mediasite is accessible only from Canvas.

This means that all you have to do is to click on “My Mediasite” or “Mediasite Catalog” in Canvas to access the service.

You will be logged in automatically. If necessary, use “Authenticate”.

What is My Mediasite?

My Mediasite is a place where you can upload, administrate, edit and publish videos.
This is your private space to which nobody else has access. Here you can decide what will be visible to others.
You have access to the same My Mediasite, irrespective of which course in Canvas you are in.

You can share content from My Mediasite in Canvas in several ways:

  • Directly in Canvas content, in other words a page, assignment or discussion, in the form of an embedded player

  • By way of the Mediasite Catalog, which collects all the media files for a course

What is Mediasite Catalog?

Mediasite Catalog is a collection of audio and video files that a teacher has made accessible to students in the Canvas course.

  4. Click on “Add Module” at the bottom and select the course you are in

  5. The video will then be added to the Mediasite Catalog for this course

Copyright and platforms

You must own the material you upload. Normal copyright rules apply.

Mediasite functions to some extent like YouTube, in that you can create recordings, upload videos and share them with whomever you want to.

Playing back videos functions on most platforms, such as Windows, Mac, Linux, IOS and Android.
